Charlie

We have two maltese poodles and two cats - used to be four cats but we gave one to my parents and the other one sadly died.  Our animals are our 'beloved children' and they control what happens in this house!! The two 'favourites' are Charlie (opposite) and, Chucky, the grey and white cat below.  They control me!  Charlie loves his teddy bears (he has 6); swimming (has his own pool); the scrunchie in my hair (he takes it out every day!) and just having fun in general!  He opens all his own Christmas presents by himself and tries to open ours too! His biggest hate is the computer! He tries to drag me away from it by grabbing my pants or shoes when he has had enough and wants my attention!

Chucky is just the most adorable cat on earth!  He was found as a tiny kitten trying to cross a road. He was so small that I had to feed him with a dropper. He is the 'fishing cat!' One night he went down to the river and caught a bream and brought it back for me - he was so pleased with himself! He started with small snakes; then an old boot from the river and finally - the fish!! Every morning (only in the early mornings), he comes and takes my 'scrunchie' out of my hair and then stands kneading the duvet or dog basket with the scrunchie hanging out of his mouth.  I guess, between Chucky & Charlie, I will never be able to cut my hair because of the scrunchie!!  He is a real character!

Polly

Polly is a real little character and getting on in years now.  Our ex next-door neighbours gave her to us when they left the house.  She is full of beans but, boy, does she have a piercing bark!  She is more dog than human but a great little gal, nontheless!  She is continuously trying to get Charlie into trouble or I reckon, even better, killed - so that she can get all the attention!  I watch her taking him out into situations and then sneaking back with a smug look on her face and leaving him out there to deal with it, while she is back home safe and sound!  We don't have a doggy parlour in Maun and boy - its a job keeping their coats clean and burr free!!

Blackie is huge (8kgs).   He arrived in our yard one day and hung around for a few months by the storerooms until we decided to let him move in. Then he caused havoc and fought with all our other cats and poor old Smokey landed up moving in with my parents, who live next door! Chucky is the only one who is not scared of him - probably because he grew up with him from kitten stage. He does nothing but sleep all day long!  He is a beautiful cat with a lovely personality - he's actually more like a dog personality wise! When he opens those big yellow eyes wide - they are enormous.  Charlie likes the cats and cleans Blackie's ears for him (hopefully, he doesn't lick my face afterwards!!).

Zamalak (left) is a great cat and full of energy and bounce!  She is also the only cat to have ever bitten me on my butt - full bite!  She was lying against me and had a nightmare and leapt into the air and when she came down, the closest thing to her dream was my butt - and did she bite!!!  Smokey (right) used to belong to us, but when Blackie moved in, he reckoned it was safer to go and live with my folks! He and Zamalak are very good buddies.
